A one-day Inter-University Students’ Seminar was organised on the 11th of April, 2014 by the Dept. of English on ‘Post colonialism Now: Reassessing Ambivalent Discourse(s).’ The occasion was presided over by Ravered Swami Sarvaganandaji Maharaj, the Honourable Secretary of the Ashrama. The Keynote was delivered by Dr. Nilanjana Deb from the Department of English, Jadavpur University.
The response received from the students was overwhelming. Students from various institutions such as University of Calcutta, Jadavpur University, University of Burdwan, Visva-Bharati University, Rabindra Bharati University and Bethune College participated along with a few paper –presenters from our own department. The papers were divided into two groups – one for the Undergraduate and Postgraduate students, while the other was reserved for the Research Scholars. Sri Baijayanta Bhattacharya (University of Calcutta) and Sri Rupayan Mukherjee (Jadavpur University) were the winners from the Undergraduate and Postgraduate group, while Godhuli Goswami (University of Calcutta) was adjudged the best presenter from the Research Scholars’ group.
The event was concluded with a valedictory address Prof. Dr. Tirthankar Das Purakayastha of Vidyasagar University, followed by a customary vote-of-thanks from the Convenors, Sri Suvankar Ghosh Roy Chowdhury and Sri Sambuddha Ghosh.
